Today it’s Australia Day, so I thought this would be a good day for an update on life in Australia.
In this post I will start with telling you more about Australia Day, followed by what my life in Australia looks like now.
Are you thinking about moving to this amazing country? Please keep reading and fall in love even more.
Australia Day is the official national day of Australia. This day is celebrated today, the 26th of January.
These celebrations are for the things we all love about Australia: freedoms, democracy, the lifestyle and the people.
The day was picked because on the 26th of January 1788 Captain Arthur Philip arrived at Sydney Cove. He was the first Governor of New South Wales. He raised the beginning of the colony by raising the Flag of Great Britain.

As said on the Australia Day website: ‘Australia Day is about acknowledging and celebrating the contribution that every Australian makes to our contemporary and dynamic nation.’
My Australia Day
My first Australia Day was celebrated with a camping trip, the Triple J hottest 100 and a BBQ. It was a nice summer day, we listened to music, had delicious food and were enjoying life at it’s best. This while being dressed up with hats and headbands with the Australian flag and a themed pair of swimmers.
I absolutely love it, the idea of a country celebrating what they were, are and will become is amazing. It gives people a chance to realise what they have and appreciate that. Australia Day is something that everybody should experience, because this country is worth celebrating for – Cheers to Australia!
My Aussie Life
My life in Australia is amazing too. A lot of people warned me before I moved away with things as ‘You know you have to work there too right?’ – ‘It won’t be just a dream, it is life’
But what if you can turn your dream into your life? What if you can wake up every morning and think – Wow, I really did this, I am really here. And that is what life for me is here.
I am really living my dream. Yes I have to work and yes I still have to pay tax and wash my clothes, but I am at the best place to do it. I go to work, but the day only starts when I come home. The BBQ is on and it is still warm enough to go for a quick swim.
I do my laundry late Sunday night after having an amazing weekend away camping and relaxing.
Who doesn’t agree that is living life to it’s fullest. I love it here and would recommend to everybody to at least visit Australia.
Australia is beautiful, the nature, the animals and most of all the people. Loving, honest and full of life. I don’t think I have ever met more hard working, but laid back people as here in Australia. You only live once, so why not do it in the best way possible?
